Fuel allowance 2023: a new gesture on diesel? Emmanuel Macron wants a new gesture on diesel prices

Fuel allowance: did you ask for it? What'il faut savoir pour la toucher

Emmanuel Macron expressed the wish for a new gesture on diesel . Indeed, despite a more attractive price than that of unleaded, the price of diesel remains extremely high throughout France. This astronomical increase is partly due to the war in Ukraine and the economic recovery. For this reason, a new fuel allowance will be set up.

A fuel allowance that replaces that of 2022

The government is setting up a new fuel allowance of €100 . Indeed, this replaces the pump bonus at the end of 2022. This compensation must be claimed on the tax site using an online form. It concerns 10 million people who use their vehicle to get to their place of work, and meets certain income conditions. In addition, the deadline for claiming this aid has been extended by an additional month, i.e. until the end of March.

That's not all. The oil giant Total will offer a new boost in the form of a discount. In fact, the company says it is ready to consider new ways to help the French face this increase in fuel.

However, the tax administration has identified some problems. For this reason, you may not have received your fuel allowance yet. First of all, the deadline for obtaining the transfer of 100 euros will be extended. From 10 to 14 days on average, against 8 to 10 days initially planned.

Another thing, some vehicles are not eligible for the fuel allowance. For example, company vehicles purchased by individuals for personal use are not eligible.

If the problem persists, you can try filling out the fuel allowance form again.

How and who can benefit from this new state aid?

The process is very simple. In fact, all you have to do is go to the tax website and fill out a form . To complete it you will need these items:

  • Your tax number
  • Your license plate number and your gray card number
  • A sworn statement that you use your vehicle to go to work

You can also make your request by phone at 0.806.000.229 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., or at the nearest tax office.

However, certain conditions must be met in order to benefit from this fuel allowance of €100. Indeed, this aid concerns 50% of the poorest French households. These households must need their vehicle to get to work. In practice, this represents approximately 10 million people.

More specifically, this fuel allowance is paid per person and not per household. This means that each member who has a vehicle and needs it to get to work, can get this help . A couple can therefore benefit from 200 euros of fuel allowance in 2023. To obtain this aid, it is necessary to justify a reference tax income per unit for the year 2021 less than or equal to 14,700 euros.
